CANNACITY GETS MAD EYEBALLS WHEN IT COMES TO PRESS

Getty Images blessed us by covering our first event in Los Angeles. It was a pre 420 event that ended at 4:20 in the morning on 4/20/2019.

Getty told us, “Look, we haven’t ever covered a cannabis event, so most likely you’ll be lucky if we post 20 or 30 pics from your party.” They ended up posting well over 200. And their absolutely gorgeous. They covered the booths, the models, the art, the budtender, the DJs, the incredible food and infused drinks, the CBD lotions sponsors and the late night dancing. A great time was had by all. Thanks, Getty. You’re the best.

Interview with Alibi Cannabis CEO Marianne Curtsejee

We just launched Mariposa pre-rolls to celebrate empowered, edgy females with the sexy NFT on the packaging. Our signature branding, “Mariposa Takes Flight,” is based on an NFT we purchased from art curators and designers CANNACITY. Figuring out how to utilize the blockchain, NFTs and the integrate the metaverse into the cannabis industry is an exciting new frontier. Made with 100% handcrafted indoor flower, the pre-rolls have received rave reviews. We are in discussions to launch this brand into other states and plan to introduce a line of gummies soon in Oregon. I’m pleased that we have found some fabulous companies to collaborate with. Also, this year, we are launching a merch shop featuring Mariposa. Look for amazing merchandise over the coming few months at Alibi.shop

California Celebrates 420. More events like this are happening all the time. Cannacity, a newly launched hemp clothing lifestyle brand for men and women, hosted their first private event in celebration of 4/20, aka National Marijuana Day. In association with The Artists Project LA, this fashion and art incubator drew 420 friendly celebrities, influencers and notables to a private Hollywood event location.

An in-house "budtender" rolled and distributed complementary cannabis cones throughout the event while serving Chronic Creamery cannabis infused vanilla ice-cream root beer floats.  Dee Dee's Original CBD Topicals provided massage therapists for the event who gave CBD massages to event guests while CBD beauty brand Baignoire Herbaine shared their highly curated line of high dosage CBD infused bath bombs, lip balms, and even personal lubricant meant to provide utter relaxation during intimacy.

LA celebrity DJ Prophet manned the turntables for the 1st half of the event and DJ Jade Jenius had guests dancing until the wee hours of the morning." The concept for Cannacity started ten years ago as I was sitting at a coffee shop in Amsterdam.  Now, Cannacity is a fully realized dream. One I can touch. One can I can wear. And to finally see it come to fruition, through collaborations with some of the world's best photographers and artists, and then all your dearest friends and colleagues show up to your company launch event celebrate with you, well... it's a really good day." - Lisa Lindo, founder and CEO of Cannacity.

Hollywood's conscious community tends to appreciate products from environmentally and socially responsible producers, and we were happy to see these highly curated offerings scattered throughout the event. Whether enjoying the day’s fashion show, watching some unique smoke blowing competitions happening throughout, or just laughing around the fire pit as the sun went down, the crowd was easy to dance and easy to laugh. There was a constant flow and mix of well wishers and art enthusiasts that kept the energy up for this all day to the next day party going. On screens strategically placed around the historic Hollywood home you could catch a sneak peak behind the scenes as they played a slideshow on loop with images from Cannacity’s first photoshoot. A nice start for this incubating streetwear line and we look forward to seeing how their events grow in the future.

Why the world's largest marijuana company is doubling its plans for US investment. Founder of Canopy Growth Corporation—Bruce Linton—tells us that given the rise in popularity and demand for hemp, they’re preparing to double their U.S. hemp cultivation efforts and expand to seven states. Both CBD and hemp itself are becoming valuable commodities. “We’re all for more hemp cultivation. It means companies like ours will be able to more easily acquire textiles with the right mix of bamboo and hemp to produce our Tshirts right here in the U.S.,” says Cannacity ® President Franklin Johnson.

Cannacity's Lisa Lindo on Hemp Fashion and Cannabis Creators. Plus, the brand's Covid pivot

As CEO of a growing lifestyle brand, it is kind of my responsibility to figure out how to get the word out, and those soirees were legendary. Most importantly, as we were taking the time to put together a breathtaking collection, we were also testing out hemp materials for the line. Working with hemp instead of some other more traditional clothing material means you are part of an ecosystem that is so much more sustainable. Now that real life meetups are currently out of fashion, my role is to help recruit artists, commission art, develop the pieces, and work with our design team to fashion the best, well, fashion and all sorts of premium merch. It feels good to be doing something creative and rewarding during this crazy time. Unfortunately, with no public get-togethers in sight, our team is back to huddling in Southern Oregon, Los Angeles and London, reaching out to our fans at virtual events like Harlem's Hip Hop Film Festival and CES, and we've begun a series of collaborations with other brands which made us the "go-to" for creating personalized 420 merch.

Getting Lit! Pot heads attended huge public events in Los Angeles, Denver, Colorado, San Francisco, and the National Cannabis™ Festival in Washington, DC to puff up in unison. The celebrations were bigger than ever this year after ten US states and Washington DC legalized recreational marijuana. Marijuana normalization has actually snowballed since 2012, when Colorado and Washington were the first states to legalize recreational use with eight more following, including California, Oregon and Michigan. So many enthusiastic smokers posted their festivities around April 20th online that big corporations are starting to take notice. On Saturday, Lyft even offered a $4.20 credit on any single ride in Colorado and in select cities throughout U.S. and Canada.

For decades the 420 community has celebrated their love on this day, but the once counter-culture celebration that was all about getting stoned is now so mainstream Corporate America is starting to embrace it. “It just makes sense to see a 420 friendly streetwear line like Cannacity’s ® go mainstream as well,” says Verano Holdings Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO George Archos whose businesses include cannabis shops and sponsored street festivals in Chicago and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

U.S. retail sales of cannabis products jumped to $10.5 billion last year, a threefold increase from 2017, according to data from Arcview Group, a cannabis investment and market research firm. And those figures don’t even include retail sales of hemp-derived CBD products or 420 centric accessories.

Pot, grass, marijuana, cannabis — call it what you will, its recreational use is already legal in 10 states and the District of Columbia, with many more soon to follow. Among other things, that means big bucks are at stake. For those jumping into the 420 space, the market is estimated at more than $3 billion. But who will benefit from this windfall?  First of all, when you talk about single digits, less than 6 percent of all businesses are owned by Black [people] and people of color. So that includes women. And here in Cannacity® you have a perfect example of a startup that’s owned by both a woman and a man of color and it’s flourishing. And that’s beautiful.

Cannabis: A Big Tent Where All Are Welcome

At the home of Academy Award® winning actor Jamie Foxx, a unique event took place on Saturday, July 13, celebrating the 50th birthday of gifted film director F. Gary Gray. Nestled deep within the Santa Monica mountains near the exclusive enclave of Westlake Village, California, all the boxes were checked for an A-list celebrity party:

☑ A 40-acre gated estate and security personnel with walkie talkies.

☑ Beautiful women poolside in bikinis.

☑ Equally good looking men joining them in the pool.

☑ Onsite DJ.

☑ Excellent (and free!) food and drinks.

☑ Writers trying to hand scripts to Gary and “his people.”

☑ Cannabis companies educating people.

If that last item seems out of place, it’s actually what made the event truly special. In keeping with the spirit of the celebration, producing the event was a collaborative effort between Andy Price and Herb Bohanon of Platinum Star Events, in association with Curtis Jones and Moe Fourte of Mach4Media Group. Brad Turner, Founder & Editor of the Cannabis Investing Forum and Glen Choi, Founder of the Field of Dreams Dispensary and Vert Management were also instrumental in creating this first-of-its-kind cannabis-sponsored celebration.

Back in the tent, Lisa Lindo and Franklin Johnson from CANNACITY were giving away t-shirts promoting their artistic photo collection ‘She’s Smokin’.“ Lisa described it as “Sexy women smoking, fierce women who demonstrate female empowerment.” Franklin added that “I want people to appreciate the art and it’s an educational play. It’s not about sexuality, it’s about strength and the fearless tenacity to live your life out loud. If that’s sexy, than it was it is. At the same time, we hope we created pieces that anyone can wear in front of their parents.” Apparently, actions are louder than words of approval because all the t-shirts were gone in short order.

While the party honored Gary’s birthday and cinematic achievements, cannabis companies had the opportunity to take part and speak with potential investors and guests in a large tented area near the pool. Throughout the 10-hour event, the party had a relaxed, non-Hollywood vibe as guests were genuinely curious about the medicinal side of cannabis, its social impact, and why the companies sponsored the event.

First-of-its-kind cannabis-sponsored celebration. For the sponsors, investors, and guests, this event was one more step in normalizing cannabis and the role it will play in society. During the course of the day, you could feel a community forming between the sponsors and guests. And that’s exactly what people did. Person to person conversations was definitely the norm between Jamie Foxx and F. Gary Gray or any of their VIP guests who never had to shout over the DJ’s jams. “What’s so great about this event is that it’s a bunch of different worlds coming together in a social setting centered around education. People may not have known about some of the companies and brands here, and this is an excellent way to talk and connect with people in an amazing setting. Apparently, hemp can save the planet. Who knew?”

It turns out that entertainers want to be in the cannabis space and this was a perfect event to talk with potential investors and with their high-end products and sophisticated packaging, it was a popular booth at which to hang.
